Q: What should I do if my pet is experiencing an emergency?
A: Read no further and immediately call 408-457-8866 Silicon Valley Veterinary Specialists. They are a 24-hour emergency animal hospital.
Q: Is your animal hospital near me?
A: We are centrally located at 1241 Story Rd. San Jose, CA 95122. Our hospital is accessible from US Hwy 101 and the I-280 and I-680 in the Little Saigon neighborhood of East San Jose. Click here to visit our Contact Us page complete with a map and directions.
Q: Which kinds of pets (species of animals) will your veterinarians see?
A: Our veterinarians will care for your dogs, cats, and pocket pets (hamsters, rats, gerbils, etc).
Q: Which days of the week / hours are you open?
A: We are open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 7am – 6pm, Thursday from 7am – 5pm. Please note a veterinarian is not on site until 9am. We will accept drop-off appointments and surgery check-in at 7am, but cannot treat pets until 9am when a veterinarian is present. We are closed on Saturdays, Sundays and most holidays. Please first call our hospital if your pet needs care on a holiday.
Q: Do you have an overnight attendant?
A: No. We close every evening at 6:00pm (5:00pm on Thursdays). Pet owners will be responsible for transferring their pet to our 24-hour partner animal hospital, Silicon Valley Veterinary Specialists.
Q: Do I have to make an appointment?
A: We welcome walk-ins. If you prefer, you can call to make a scheduled appointment time, arrange a drop-off time, or ask about our current wait time. We are committed to being the most flexible and accommodating animal hospital in San Jose. We understand how busy your life can be. We will do our best to accommodate all walk-ins, scheduled appointments, and drop-off appointments. If possible, please first call to ask about the current wait time. Phone: 408-292-6600.
Q: Which pet care services to you provide?
A: We are a full service animal hospital with an onsite surgery suite, onsite laboratory and full pharmacy. All wellness and preventive care services such as exams, vaccinations, deworming, heartworm testing and prevention, flea and tick protection, dental phrophylaxis (teeth cleaning), spay and neuter procedures, and other surgeries. We will also care for your sick or injured pets. Should you be looking for grooming or boarding services, please call our staff for a referral.
Q: How and when do you expect payment?
A: We accept cash, checks, Visa, Master Card, American Express and Care Credit. Payment is expected at the time of service.
Q: Will you allow payment plans?
A: We take this on a case-by-case basis. For over 50 years now, we have been known as one of the most reasonably priced, flexible and accommodating animal hospitals in San Jose. Our veterinarians go above and beyond to balance your desire to help your pet with the cost of the services. Unlike some of the “big box” corporate hospitals who have standardized protocols they must follow, we are a small independently owned hospital full of people who know our clients as neighbors and friends, thus we can custom tailor services and treatment plans on a case-by-case basis – one pet at a time.
